Rusty’s has recently closed (mid-March 2013). Blue Moon will be on hiatus until our new venue is ready.
I’m currently holding the Blue Moon Swing dance at Rusty’s, in downtown Austin, the first Thursday of every month starting May 5, 2011. Rusty’s is located at:

This venue used to be called The Rusty Spurs, which closed in December 2010. Rusty’s has been re-opened under completely different owners, and they are extremely dance-friendly.
There is ample open-air parking (well-lighted) across the street, as well as city street parking as you can find it. There is also a covered, multi-storied parking facility half-way up the block on Trinity (@ 8th).
In addition to the dance hall space Blue Moon Swing will be using, Rusty’s also offers a separate outdoor patio bar, as well as an additional space which features karaoke and/or a casual poker game, depending on the date.
Under 21 welcome
Rusty’s has been kind enough to accomodate my request for allowing minors into the bar for dancing purposes. They must be accompanied by an adult, and will receive a special stamp or wristband to disallow them from buying an alcoholic drink. An adult can buy them soft drinks. Please respect this. Rusty’s is doing *US* a favor by letting minors in because we’re a dance event — most other venues would not be this accommodating! If you’re under 21 and try to order an alcoholic drink to be “kewl” the only thing that will happen is that we’ll lose the privilege to let the under 21 crowd in.
